Applying genomics research for chile pepper improvement

On September 28, Dario Copetti represented the Arizona Genomics Institute at the Chile Field Day that took place in Pearce, Arizona.  The event was organized by Curry Seed & Chile Co. and New Mexico State University.

The on-field event covered all aspects of the chile cultivation, from disease and field management, harvest, pepper quality and nutritional improvements, to research and breeding.  The attendees were an interested and proactive blend of farmers, agronomists, geneticists and breeders, nutritionists, and various representatives of industry products and equipment.  Dr. Copetti illustrated AGI’s role in enabling crop breeding and research by developing and analyzing modern genomic datasets.

As always, the event was well organized and very informative for all audiences.
